John M. Sherman has been in practice for more than fifty years. For much of that time he has focused his attention on counseling healthcare facilities on various compliance issues including HIPAA, Employment Relations, and billing and collection compliance considering ongoing local and federal regulations.
In the mid-2000’s John was employed as the Director of Revenue Cycle operations at a New York-based not-for-profit safety-net hospital, where he oversaw the hospital’s Medical Records Department, its Inpatient and Outpatient Billing Departments, its in-house Coders, all Patient Access functions, and the Facility’s Financial Assistance Program.
John has been a frequent speaker at both local and national healthcare conferences, addressing topics related to changes occurring in the healthcare industry.
Most recently, John’s law practice has focused on addressing billed, but unpaid, accounts receivables arising out of motor vehicle accidents. His exceptional understanding of no-fault laws, rules and regulations, and the areas where healthcare facilities create their own problems, will benefit both existing and future clients of this firm. He also brings to the firm expertise in resolving other difficult third-party claims due from commercial/governmental payers.
John is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law where, for two years, he served on the School’s Law Review. He is admitted to all New York State Courts, as well as the Southern and Eastern federal District Courts, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
